Als ik er niet meer ben: about the song by Marcel Huberts
“Als ik er niet meer ben” (“When I'm no longer here”) is a Dutch song by Marcel Huberts from 2025. On Facebook he wrote that he made it for his children, to tell them that love doesn't disappear and memories live on. He also means it for everyone who misses someone. There are more songs with almost the same title; below you'll find which ones, and where to find the lyrics.

Almost twenty years earlier, Robert Long sang “Liedje voor als ik er niet meer ben” (“A little song for when I'm gone”). It's the first track on his last studio album, 'n Duivels genoegen, released in 2006. He died in December of that year. Johnny Soerel and Bas de Meijer also have songs called “Als ik er niet meer ben”.
What stays with people
When you're gone, photos and stories remain, and often music too. When your daughter later hears a record you always used to play, she'll think of you.
Which records mean the most to you yourself, and why, isn't always something the people around you know. You can tell them now, in your own words.
How to save your own five
